What is Telemedicine?
Telemedicine is the practice of using technology to provide health care services. By using this healthcare platform, patients can use their phones, tablets, laptop, or desktop to meet with their provider.
What are the benefits of Telemedicine?
There are numerous benefits of telemedicine which include the patient’s ability to meet with their provider without leaving their home or other location. This results in less time taken away from work or other duties, since there is no driving involved. Providers can monitor symptoms remotely, and can decide if you need to have an in-person visit. Oftentimes with telemedicine, patients can get appointments more quickly. And last but not least, prescriptions can be filled remotely.
What are some limitations of Telemedicine?
Telemedicine cannot be used for emergency situations. Our providers will not prescribe controlled substances or manage chronic pain via telemedicine. Patients cannot use telemedicine services if they do not have access to the internet or cell phone data.
