Substance abuse in the workplace can be extremely dangerous, putting the safety of everyone involved at risk. As an employer, you may be unsure of what steps to take when you discover one of your employees has been abusing illegal drugs or prescription medication.

The role of a Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) is to assess any worker who has disclosed a substance abuse problem or tested positive on a drug and alcohol test. Our SAPs will help you and your employee chart a legal and productive path forward.

SAP Evaluations & Additional Information

SAP evaluations are available and offered by a licensed mental health professional who is certified to perform SAP assessments for DOT safety-sensitive employees. 

Per DOT CFR 49 Part 40 Section 40.285, a SAP evaluation must be completed when an employee violates DOT drug and alcohol regulations which include, having a verified positive DOT drug test result, a DOT alcohol test with a result indicating an alcohol concentration of 0.04 or greater, a refusal to test (including by adulterating or substituting a urine specimen), or any other violation of the prohibition on the use of alcohol or drugs under a DOT agency regulation.
